SEBASTIAN WOLFE

Character Profile

His Past…

Sebastian Wolfe always felt on the outside of the sprawling Wolfe family. The second youngest, he was often overlooked in favor of his younger, more extrovert brother Nathaniel. Sebastian was the shadow in the corner, finding that his only release from the internal struggles of his intelligent and tortured mind was to exercise his body. He would often ride out for hours on the family horses, pushing himself to his physical limits.

Rejected by both his mother and father, Sebastian found Jacob was the only brother who continued to try with him. Sebastian keenly felt the loss of his oldest brother Jacob when he left, and – aged only eleven – retreated further into his shell.

Sebastian might have retreated into the shadows as a child, but his quiet intelligence meant he had a keen, cold and sharp business mind as an adult. He wisely and aggressively invested his inheritance from his father, and now owns a chain of luxury spa hotels and resorts around the world, as well as his own private island.

His Present…

Ruthless in business and revered by many, Sebastian is at the top of his game professionally. Emotionally he keeps himself alone – aloof and almost untouchable. Some say his heart is made of stone.

Sebastian no longer has the opportunity to ride horses – his life is mainly spent in cities – so by day he is the composed businessman, and by night he works out his frustrations in the gym. He is an insomniac, existing on little more than three hours’ sleep a night – the rest of the night he is pounding a punch bag, on a treadmill, swimming endless laps in the pool and pushing himself to his physical limits.

His Future…

Sebastian has casual relationships with a string of mistresses in different countries whom he calls on when he is passing through on business. They all know he lives a very transient life, and expect nothing but the sublime pleasure he gives them before leaving their bed. He never spends a night with a woman – not only because he hardly sleeps, but because he’s a lone wolf and shuns the emotional closeness a night in a woman’s bed demands. All his mistresses know the score, but that doesn’t stop them wishing for more.

But, escaping her wedding, it takes one look at ice-cool Sebastian for Bollywood star Aneesa Adani to be hooked! Passionate Aneesa is the biggest risk Sebastian has ever faced, and letting her close could ignite a fire that will melt even the hardest of hearts…

AUTHOR AND CHARACTER QUESTIONS WITH ABBY GREEN

Behind the scenes at Wolfe Manor…

Share a secret about your hero or heroine?
My heroine was going to study medicine when she was discovered by a model scout in a shopping mall with school – friends, so she never followed that career path.

Who the biggest, baddest Wolfe?
Well I’d have to say Sebastian of course: all that silent, brooding energy and tortured demons..! But after Sebastian I’d say it has to be Jacob because he’s the one overshadowing everyone until the very end.

Which Wolfe brother did you most fancy?
Sebastian of course, again! But after Sebastian I think I fancied Jacob the most as he’s the one with all the scars, and pain. He’s the most elusive and the one I’d be most curious about; who is he going to settle down with and how will he overcome his demons?

Which is your hero’s favourite room in Wolfe Manor?
I think his favourite room is his bedroom because he can lock himself away from all the chaos and turmoil outside.

How did your hero pop the big question to the heroine?
He got down on one knee like any good self–respecting hero and presented her with a gorgeous ring!

Your writing secrets…

What do you enjoy most about writing as part of a continuity series; how does it differ to writing a single title?
I like the idea of being given a structure, a storyline within which you can breathe the characters to life and give it your own twist.

What do you think makes a great hero/heroine?
I think what makes a great hero is depicting the kind of man who at first possesses all the qualities that can almost be seen as negative: he’s dominant, arrogant, utterly self – reliant, rigid and uncompromising, all wrapped up in a gorgeous face and body of course. But then the chinks in the armour start to appear, and the human is revealed and then he becomes absolutely irresistible.

And what makes a great heroine is that we, the reader can relate to her. So she has all the insecurities and fears that we have. And she’s not the most beautiful woman in the world. But she has something special, and the hero sees that straight away, whether or not he recognises it. It’s something he reacts to on a very deep and visceral level, so even when they’re not getting on, he can’t keep away from her…

When you are writing, what is a typical day?
A typical, ‘good’ writing day, is one where I get up around 8am, have some breakfast and a cup of tea which is essential to the process. Then write until about lunchtime, have a walk and some lunch, and then get back to work around 3pm, until about 6pm. TV in the evening to relax, or read a book and bed early.
