The Scent of Romance

by Lynn Raye Harris, author of The Change in Di Navarra’s Plan

It’s that time of year when thoughts turn to Christmas gifts, and one of the things that many ladies seem to want is a nice bottle of perfume.  I know I do!  I don’t wear much, but I like a subtle scent that I can wear when I want to have that extra special touch, you know?

The heroine of my December Presents, Holly Craig, knows all about perfume.  She has a nose for scents and she blends fragrances like her French grandmother taught her to do.  But her grandmother recently passed and Holly wants to save the house where she grew up under her grandmother’s care.  To do that, she needs to convince a big cosmetics company that she has what it takes to make scents for them.

Holly risks it all for that single meeting with Drago di Navarra, the dynamic CEO of Navarra Cosmetics, an old and venerable house started by his Italian ancestors.  Drago is enchanted with Holly’s freshness.  He mistakes her for the model he’s been asking for all day – an ordinary woman who will convey youth, innocence, and girl-next-door prettiness for his latest perfume campaign.

Naturally, things are not what they seem and the course of love never runs smoothly. After a night of passion, Drago throws Holly out of his apartment without listening to her pitch.  When he runs into her again, waiting tables in a New Orleans casino a year later, the fresh, pretty girl has been replaced by a world-weary woman who works hard to survive.

But Holly has a secret.  A tiny, three-month-old secret that she’s not prepared to share with the man who cruelly threw her out.  Except that Drago won’t go away.  This time, he wants more from Holly than just her face on his cosmetics campaign.  And Drago doesn’t take no for an answer…but what will he say when he discovers Holly’s baby is also his baby?

I love a secret baby story, and I love this one in particular!  Drago is hard and cruel, but he has his reasons.  Holly is sweet and loving, and though she’s been burned, that sweetness is still there.  These two have a difficult time navigating their way to happy ever after, but I hope you enjoy the journey.

Don’t forget, this story is also bundled with one of my never-before-released-in-North-America books!  You get two stories for the price of one this month.  An excellent deal!  The second story features motorcycle racing champion Lorenzo D’Angeli and his loyal PA Faith Black.

Merry Christmas, y’all!  Now tell me, what is your favorite scent?  Mine varies, but I like one by Coach right now and one by Clinique.  I can never remember their names though. 😉

Lynn, Merry Christmas! What a lovely time of year to be having a book released and this one sounds like a corker.

Like you, my favourite scent varies. Sadly I recently went to buy a new bottle to replace one a friend had given me (‘Madam’ from John Paul Gautier) and they don’t make it any more. Sigh. I’ll have to treat myself to something else instead!

Hi, Annie! Merry Christmas to you too!

Oh, sorry about your scent. I hate when they do that! :/ I hope you find something new that you love equally as much. 🙂
