I’ve always pronounced is as such, but when I heard a fellow critique partner of mine call it presents as in a birthday present, I pulled up short. Thanks for the explanation, that’s really good to know how it all came about!

I think the “Presents” is meant to be read as Harlequin presenting a certain author. I believe the Presents line originally showcased three of Harlequin Romance’s most popular authors, Violet Winspear, Anne Hampson, and Anne Mather.

I have a really silly question, not in relation to the competition. I’ve always wondered, where is the emphasis on Harlequin ‘Presents’? Is is Presents as in gifts, or Presents as in to present someone with a gift? Both are fitting, so I’ve never been sure!

Can anyone answer this for me?

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to submit, but I did. It was hard pushing that send button – my stomach was tied up in knots. But nothing will happen for me if I don’t try. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
